Ava made her own costume this year. She was an "evil mermaid thing." I couldn't get a better answer than why it's evil other than "because it kills people." You will have to ask her yourself.

Broodiness Is Contagious

There are a few reasons that a hen will go broody:

1) Due to breed - certain breeds are more prone than others
2) An abundance of eggs in a nest - it's almost as though the eggs are beckoning to the hens
3) Being around another broody hen - peer pressure? copycat behavior?

Currently, we have three broody chickens, and at least two out of the three reasons above apply to these ladies.
